Dual-Layer: Datrium DVX is implemented exclusively in a dual-layer architecture consisting of compute-only nodes in one layer and storage-only nodes in a separate layer. This design choice was intentional as to allow for maximum flexibility and performance predictability.

The Datrium DVX platform can run in two modes: "Fast" (default) and "Insane". Per default up to 20% of the CPU horsepower in a Datrium DVX Compute Node is consumed for executing storage-related activities. When switching to "Insane" mode, the performance in storage IO is doubled (or depending on the workload even trippled), however up to 40% of CPU resourcs is consumed as a consequence.
