When end-user organizations order a Nutanix solution from Nutanix channel partners they get the Nutanix software on Nutanix branded hardware. Nutanix is sourcing this hardware from SuperMicro. End-user organizations also have the option to source their own SuperMicro hardware and buy licensing and support from Nutanix.

Dell and Nutanix reached an OEM agreement in 2015. Lenovo and Nutanix reached an OEM agreement in 2016. IBM and Nutanix reached an OEM agreement in 2017. Customers and prospects should note that these hardware platforms should not be mixed in one cluster (technically possible but not supported).

In July 2016 Nutanix and Crystal Group partnered together to provide Enterprise Cloud solutions for extreme environments in energy, mining, hospitality, military, government and more. Combining the highly reliable, ruggedized Crystal RS2616PS18 Rugged 2U server platform and award-winning Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform for use in tactical environments.

As of August 2016 Nutanix completed independent validation of running Nutanix software on Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) C-Series servers. Nutanix for Cisco UCS rack-mount servers is available through select Cisco and Nutanix partners worldwide.

In February 2017 Nutanix and Klas forged a partnership Nutanix to transform tactical data center solutions for government and military operations. The Klas Telecom Voyager Tactical Data Center system running the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform allows data center operations to be carried out in the field via a single, airline carry-on-sized case.

As of July 2017 Nutanix completed independent validation of running Nutanix software on Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) B-Series servers. Nutanix for Cisco UCS blade servers is available through select Cisco and Nutanix partners worldwide.

In September 2017 Nutanix released a version specifically for the IBM Power platform.

In May 2019 Fujitsu announced the availability of Fujitsu XF-series, combining Nutanix software with Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers.

In October 2019 HPE announced the availability of HPE ProLiant DX solution and HPE GreenLake for Nutanix.


The Nutanix Community Edition (CE) can be run on almost any x86 hardware but only have community support. Nutanix CE can also be run on AWS and Google using Ravello Systems for testing and training purposes.

A Nutanix node can run from AWS, backed with S3 storage as a backup target.
