vSAN iSCSI block storage acts as one or more targets for Windows or Linux operating systems running on a bare metal (physical) server.
vSAN iSCSI Service does not support other vSphere or ESXi clients or initiators, third-party hypervisors, or migrations using raw device mapping (RDMs).
vSAN 6.7 and upwards support Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) by building WSFC targets on top of vSAN iSCSI targets. vSAN iSCSI target service supports SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations for shared disks and transparent failover for WSFC. WSFC can run on either physical servers or VMs.
vSAN 6.7 U3 enhances the vSAN iSCSI service by allowing dynamic resizing of iSCSI LUNs without disruption.
