VMs can be configured as part of a Consistency Group in order to guarantee all VMs in the group to reflect exactly the same point-in-time and thus guaranteeing crash-consistent consistency across VMs.

Application consistency can only be achieved for a single VM, because only 1 VM can be part of a consistency group when selecting application consistent snapshots.

Nutanix supports a maximum of 20 entities (VMs, volume groups) in a single consistency group.
