Details
Nutanix Objects was introduced with the release of AOS 5.11. Nutanix Objects is compatible with Amazon’s Simple Storage Service API (S3 API) to simplify integration with applications. Nutanix Buckets presents a single namespace in the object storage instance and supports the ability to create different object policies as required for different application scenarios. Any component can be scaled out independently to match the workload demands. The architecture is designed with scalability and ease of upgrade in mind. Today Nutanix Objects is a 3rd generation solution. The current release is 3.1.

Nutanix Objects can be deployed on an existing cluster alongside VMs, files, and blocks, or standalone. Objects natively inherits Nutanix DSF (Distributed Storage Fabric) capabilities like erasure coding, compression and deduplication.

Nutanix Objects can be leveraged for the following use cases:
- Long Term Retention & Backup (simple, scalable and cost-effective active archive solution.
- Data Preservation & Compliancy (data in a non-rewritable and non-erasable format per SEC Rule 17a-4 in scalable compliant archive).

Nutanix Objects 3.0 introduces ESXi support, meaning that Object Stores can be deployed on ESXi clusters. It also introduces Object Replication, meaning that objects in a source bucket can be replicated to a destination bucket in a different Object Store Instance. Furthermote Objects 3.0 adds support for Objects Lock API Operations, meaning that object lock policies can be applied on individual objects within a bucket using the S3 supported APIs.

Nutanix Objects 2.2 introduced support for the PKCS#8 standard as well as a notification feature for Object Store. It also enhanced the quota policy for users.

Nutanix Objects 2.1 introduced support for scaling out, quota policies for users, enhanced API access key management, listing of shared Buckets. It also added Static Website policy and CORS policy for Buckets.

Nutanix Objects 1.1 introduced support for Object Store deployments in sites without internet access.
