Depending on the hardware model Nutanix offers one or multiple choices on CPU per Node: 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 44 cores. None of the hardware platforms offer all of the above processor configurations. Nutanix current hardware platforms provide up to 5 different CPU confgurations.

The NX-1000 series (NX-1065-G7 and NX-1175-G7 submodels), the NX-3000 series (NX-3060-G7 submodel ) and the NX-8000 series (NX-8035-G7 and NX8170-G7 submodels) currently support 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Cascade Lake). The NX-5000 series stil lacks a submodel that supports 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lajke) processors.

Nutanix still provides multiple native models and submodels that offer a choice of previous generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Skylake).

Lenovo ThinkAgile HX (Nutanix OEM) models were the first to ship with 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lake) processors. In July 2019 Nutanix native models (G7) and Dell EMC XC (Nutanix OEM) models also started to ship with 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lake) processors.

AOS 5.17 introduces support for AMD processors across hypervisors (ESXi/Hyper-V/AHV). The first hardware partner to release an AMD platform for AOS is HPE with more to follow.
