Details
Nutanix smallest deployment for Remote Office and Branch Office (ROBO) environments is a 1 node cluster based on the NX-1175S-G5 hardware model that is a good fit for small scale remote office and branche office (ROBO) environments. The Starter Edition license is often best suited for this type of deployment.

Nutanix also provides a single-node configuration for off-cluster on-premises backup purposes by leveraging native snapshots. The single-node supports compression and deduplication, but cannot be used as a generic backup target. It uses Replication Factor 2 (RF2 ) to protect data against magnetic disk failures.

AOS 5.6 introduces support for 2-node ROBO environments. These deployments require a Witness VM in a 3rd site as tie-breaker. This Witness is available for VMware vSphere and AHV. The same Witness VM is also used in Stretched Cluster scenarios based on VMware vSphere.

Nutanix smallest deployment for data center environments contains 3 nodes in a Nutanix Xpress 2U SX-1000 configuration that is specifically designed for small scale environment. The Starter Edition license is often best suited for this type of deployment.
