StarWind HCA does not provide any backup/restore capabilities of its own.
Therefore it relies on existing data protection solutions like VMware vSpheres free-of-charge vSphere Data Protection (VDP) backup software or any vSphere compatible 3rd party backup application eg. Veeam Backup & Replication. VMware VDP is part of the vSphere license and requires the deployment of virtual backup appliances on top of vSphere.
No specific integration exists between StarWind HCA and VMware VDP.
StarWind Virtual Tape Library Appliance (VTLA) which is available as pre-configured Appliance or as a software verion, another product in StarWinds portfolio, can be leveraged as a backup storage target by a large number of well-known backup applications. VTLA is also able to offload backups to a secondary backup repository by replicating them to public cloud targets. VTLA supports Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Azure blob (premium, hot, cool, archive), Backblaze B2, Wasabi, and IronMountain IronCloud.
