VMM 2012 introduces the concept of Host Groups, a hierarchical structure that allows to group hosts by its properties. Several settings and resources are assigned at the host group level, such as custom placement rules, host reserve settings for placement, dynamic optimization and power optimization settings, network resource inheritance, host group storage allocation, and custom properties. By default, child host groups inherit the settings from the parent host group.
